Vikram Setia

Vikram grew up in Punjab, India, during the turbulent 1980s. Shaped early by loss, responsibility, and resilience, his life journey has become a deep exploration of healing, embodiment, and inner strength. Raised within a large joint family, he was profoundly influenced by his grandmother, a skilled Ayurvedic practitioner, from whom he absorbed the foundations of Ayurveda and the sacred understanding of food as medicine.
For Vikram, Ayurveda is lived wisdom rather than theory; a practical way of understanding digestion, daily rhythm, seasons, and the intimate relationship between food, the nervous system, and consciousness. Cooking remains one of his deepest passions and a natural extension of his healing work, offering simple, nourishing practices that support balance and vitality in modern life.
Alongside Ayurveda, Vikram works across trauma-informed inquiry, meditation, and systemic healing. He is the founder of Brid9e, a platform devoted to bridging ancient wisdom traditions with contemporary therapeutic approaches. Through workshops, group work, and embodied practices, Vikram creates grounded, compassionate spaces where people can reconnect with themselves, their bodies, and their innate capacity to heal.
Workshop:
This 90-minute interactive cooking workshop offers a practical and engaging introduction to Ayurveda through the lens of food. Designed for a large audience and delivered on a kitchen stage, the session blends short teaching segments, live cooking, and audience participation to make Ayurvedic principles accessible, relevant, and enjoyable.
The workshop begins with a brief overview of the origins of Ayurveda and the role of food as daily medicine, with a focus on digestion (agni), balance, and nourishment in modern life. Participants are then invited into a light-hearted, interactive exploration of the three doshas using everyday cues such as hunger patterns, mood swings, energy levels, and tongue appearance - encouraging recognition rather than diagnosis.
The main focus of the session is a live cooking demonstration of a tridoshic khichdi, alongside a simple seasonal vegetable preparation. Through these dishes, Vikram introduces key Ayurvedic spices, their functions, and how intelligent combinations and cooking methods support digestion and the nervous system. Emphasis is placed on simplicity, adaptability, and how the same base ingredients can be used to support different constitutions and needs. Vikram will also shares a few recipes including desserts and drinks.
The workshop also introduces key Ayurvedic spices and their specific roles in supporting digestion, balance, and vitality. Participants learn how and why spices are combined in Ayurveda, and how small adjustments in spicing can dramatically change how food is experienced and digested.
The workshop is suitable for all levels, requires no prior knowledge of Ayurveda, and is delivered with warmth and humour. Participants leave with a clear understanding of how to apply Ayurvedic principles in everyday cooking, using food as a gentle, practical tool for balance and wellbeing.
